Protection Buyer's Guide

What Protection Gear Do I Need?

Helmets

Skating helmets are very important and should be used by all skaters and scooter riders no matter how experienced the rider is. Helmets must fit securely and should not move around as you nod or turn your head.

Pad Sets
The best and most cost effective way of buying Skating Protection is to buy a set of pads which usually include Knee, Elbow and Wrist guards. View our pad set range here.

Knee Pads

Skating knee pads are another important part of skating protection and a particularly useful for beginners. Wearing a knee pad will help absorb impact when you fall and stop nasty cuts and scrapes. To check the pad fits correctly you will need to fasten it onto your knee and then give it a little tug up and down. If the knee pad slides on your leg then chances are it is too loose and not a good fit.

Elbow Pads
Elbow pads should not be overlooked and should definitely be worn by beginners. Elbow pads should fit in a similar way to knee pads and should not slip up and down the arm.

Wrist Guards
We would say that wrist guards are one of the most important pieces of protective equipment as when you fall it is a reflex reaction to put your hands out. It doesn’t matter how much experience you have you will always use your hands to break a fall. Wrist guards help to protect against breaks but also help stop cuts and bruises to your palms. When fitting a wrist guard make sure the Velcro lines up correctly and they should be comfortably tight.
